Associate Professor Miriam Tanti has been appointed as the inaugural Campus Dean at our Strathfield Campus.
The “Mount Saint Mary Campus” in Strathfield was the first expansion since the founding of the University in 1991.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Greg Craven said as the University’s Strathfield Campus had grown, the need for a dedicated Campus Dean had become apparent.
Associate Professor Tanti has a long history with the ACU, attending as both an undergraduate and postgraduate student, before returning to teach. She also holds a PhD from The University of Sydney; her scholarship focuses on the impact of technological change.
Associate Professor Tanti brings a great deal of experience as an educator and as a leader. She has held various leadership roles within the School of Education, including Educational Technology Discipline Lead, Deputy Head of School (NSW) and Head of School (NSW/ACT). Before starting at ACU, Miriam was a secondary teacher, working both in the Catholic and independent sectors.
A passionate educator, Associate Professor Tanti has earned numerous citations from University and the Faculty of Education and Arts for her excellence in teaching. She has been a long-time advocate for the campus, previously negotiating the strategic partnership with St Patrick’s College, Strathfield working with the Department of Education to establish the Strathfield Schools Mentoring Hub, and partnering with Google Education to establish an ACU Technology Lending Library for local schools.
Professor Craven said the new Campus Dean brought a great deal of experience as an educator and as a leader.
“Associate Professor Tanti has made a sustained contribution to the life, culture and mission of the University over many years and there is little doubt she will bring her energy and forward-thinking approach as Campus Dean at the Strathfield Campus,” he said.
Associate Professor Tanti will continue working in the Faculty of Education and Arts as the Acting State Head of Education (NSW/ACT).
