EFTSL value of units : All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

Admission requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:

  1. Equivalent of an Australian bachelor’s degree in any discipline

International applicants need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

Completion requirements

1. To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 160 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 40 cp Foundation Units (Part A)
  2. 90 cp Specialist Area Units (Part B)
  3. 20 cp IT Masters Project Unit (Part C)
  4. 10 cp Business Electives (Part D)

2. An applicant who has completed the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology, Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics, Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security, Graduate Certificate in Application Development or Graduate Certificate in Data Science may be granted advanced standing.

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.

3. An applicant who has completed the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology consisting of 80cp comprising:

  1. 40 cp from the Foundation units; and
  2. 40 cp from any Skills units

can exit from the Master of Information Technology with the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology award.

Exit points

A student who has completed the requirements prescribed for the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology or Graduate Certificate in Information Technology may exit from the course with the relevant award.

Students who complete the required combination of units may exit with a:

  • Graduate Certificate in Application Development
  • Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics
  • Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security
  • Graduate Certificate in Data Science

Progression requirements
