Emmanuel City Mission is a daytime sanctuary for the most vulnerable in our city. The centre is based on Christian values and behaviour with each individual being treated with dignity and respect.

The centre consists of regular activities, basic facilities and services to assist those with a variety of needs. The centre desires to not only meet the material needs, but the fullness of the individual, mind, body and soul. You will provide a warm presence to homeless visitors by having conversations with people experiencing homelessness providing providing assistance in meeting their needs, along with general activities associated with the centre.

19 Merivale Street, South Brisbane 

The centre operates 10am - 2pm, Monday to Friday.

3 places available per day (maximum of 2 volunteer days per week)

  • Current Blue Card (Vulnerable Adults)
  • National Police Check
  • Archdiocesan Safeguarding Training (provided by ECM)
  • General induction at the centre
  • Read and sign Emmanuel City Mission Code of Conduct
If you are participating in this opportunity under community engagement time release, then you are covered by ACU's insurances. If you are accessing this opportunity as a volunteer outside of ACU, then you are NOT covered by ACU's insurance policies. If accessing this opportunity as a volunteer we strongly recommend you confirm with the organisation that they have appropriate insurance for volunteers.
