Orange Sky provide a platform for every day Australians to connect through a regular laundry and shower service. The focus is on creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community.

Volunteers have one of the most important jobs at Orange Sky – to connect with our friends through genuine and non-judgemental conversation. Orange Sky volunteers are not social workers or experts on homelessness - they are empathetic listeners and great conversationalists. In the hour that it takes to do a load of laundry, volunteers sit down on our six orange chairs and have a chat – it’s a simple opportunity for every day Australians to connect. You can help to make a difference by volunteering a few hours of your time each fortnight.

As a general volunteer, the purpose of your role is to engage with all people during your Orange Sky shift and assist with driving the van, washing, shower operation and having genuine conversations.

*Some changes have been implemented due to COVID-19. Read the current position description here.

One 2-4 hour shift per fortnight for a minimum 6 month commitment.
