The position of Catalyst-Clemente Support & Learning Partner supports homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged clients of the Mission Australia Centre community services.
The tutoring program is designed to facilitate a student’s capacity to learn through mentoring including: encouragement, collaborative information gathering, active listening and constructive feedback. This program intends to assist clients create constructive pathways out of homelessness and to be socially engaged with their community.
Approximately 4 hours per week over the duration of a 12 week semester in addition to a 1.5 hour training program. There will also be the opportunity to extend this volunteering role if desired for future semesters. The Catalyst-Clemente Support & Learning Partners will be required to work with the students between 3pm and 7.00pm on a weeknight typically a Thursday at the Surry Hills site. Mission Australia is committed to Volunteering Australia’s National Standards for Involving Volunteers. Hence the engagement of ongoing volunteers is generally restricted to a maximum of 16 hours per week.
Catalyst-Clemente Learning Partners will also be expected to attend an informative 1.5 hour training session covering the topics of professional boundaries & mental health. The Program Coordinator is available on an ongoing basis to answer questions and provide as assistance as needed.
