Fitzroy Lions uses soccer as a vehicle for powerful social change, working to tackle disadvantage and remove barriers to accessing sport. We are a community organisation first and foremost, dedicated to mentoring young people through sport and offering a welcoming, fun environment for kids of all backgrounds and circumstances.
FLSC was founded in 2019 to ensure kids living in public housing were able to play organised soccer - an activity that was out of reach for many families, due to the fees and uniform costs involved at most clubs. Our ethos is that sport should be accessible, and no-one should miss out. That's why it's completely free to play at FLSC, with no club fees, no registration fees, and all kit provided at no cost for anyone who needs it - the only registered club in Australia to offer this. FLSC also serves as a support network, helping connect families to services while providing social connection and a sense of community.
We are seeking enthusiastic soccer support staff to ensure Fitzroy Lions can continue to meet growing demand and serve the community.
The role
This role involves supporting the club on match days - setting up the pitches and goals, refereeing junior matches, acting as Grounds Marshalls to deal with any issues and generally supporting the coaches and players. We also run a specific program for our youngest players (aged 4-7) and are seeking volunteers to help us manage games for this Mini Lions group.
