An after school program that supports primary school children with completing their weekly homework. After School Learning Club provides assistance to children from all backgrounds and abilities including those who have learning/behavioural challenges as well as children from non-English speaking backgrounds.
Children typically eat their afternoon tea and enjoy supervised play until 3:30pm, after which they go to their allocated classroom to begin homework activities. Children are grouped according to their year and tutors work with them to assist them in completing their assigned tasks.
As far as possible, we assign a tutor to work with differently able children who find it more challenging.
Your main responsibility will be to aid and assist, to the best of your ability, the differently abled children in the program. This may be children who find it more challenging or too easy to complete their homework, and/or other learning activities.
As part of the application and screening process (before your placement hours begin), you will undertake one session of observation where you will see how the program works and submit the required paperwork.
