Woniora Road School is a NSW Government school for specific purposes. The school caters directly for secondary aged students diagnosed with emotional disorders and mental health issues.
Woniora Road School's mission is to provide a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes student success and wellbeing. The school's effective wellbeing programs focus on developing social skills and encourage students to develop a sense of personal worth, responsibility and independent wellbeing management strategies. Woniora Road School also has a strong emphasis on academic achievement and attainment. Students access mainstream curriculum support through Sydney Distance Education High School. The school also offers specialised academic programs such as individual literacy and numeracy tutorial programs. The school implements a range of engagement programs with both a vocational and therapeutic focus that improve students' attendance and community participation and prepares the for work or further learning.
Students are to support current staff, observe and participate in classroom activities and school engagement programs that are scheduled for that day.
Program runs during school term. There is an expectation that you complete one day a week and commit to a whole day from 8.30am - 2.30pm. Two students will be selected to complete their community engagement at Woniora Road School. Whilst undergoing their placement, students will have an opportunity to observe and participate in classroom activities and school engagement programs that are scheduled for that day.
