Epictetus, a Greek and former slave, was one of the most influential Roman Stoics. By absorbing and refashioning Roman Stoicism, Epictetus created a body of thought that had a wide-ranging impact, from Christian asceticism to the Stoic political resistance of Domitian.
This roundtable discussion examines Epictetus’ views on a wide range of matters from Cosmopolitanism, to food and drink, and everything in between.
