Come to a webinar on listening to community to heal our children and young people.

Presenters will discuss a new practice framework that can enhance your practice working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who experience domestic and family violence and have had contact with the child protection system.

The panel of researchers and practitioners will discuss findings from the You can't pour from an empty cup report to which we contributed. Research was led by ANROWS, and informed by First Nations community members in eight regional and remote locations across Queensland.

The research explored service and systems responses for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who experience domestic and family violence. Findings have important implications for practice based on cultural knowledge and community led solutions.

Presenters:

  • Candice Butler, Director of the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Centre of Excellence, lead researcher
  • Professor Daryl Higgins, Director Institute of Child Protection Studies, ACU
  • Carol Miller, Townsville Aboriginal and Islander Health Service, community researcher
