Discover our difference

APTT has been designed to support students, to, through and beyond the attainment of their degree, as they forge their careers as teachers within the communities that need them most.

APTT provides a supportive, flexible and accessible learning and employment experience for students.

APTT students will be part of a special cohort, geographically attached to one of seven Cluster hubs across New South Wales and Queensland, including:

  • Brisbane
  • Rockhampton
  • Townsville
  • Forbes/Bathurst
  • Paramatta
  • Lake Macquarie
  • Canberra/Goulburn

Our wrap around support model brings higher education to teaching students in their own communities, connecting their learning to the school workplace.

Each Cluster Hub is connected to a network of government, independent and Catholic schools that will provide students with paid employment as a teacher aid, school learning support officer or a paraprofessional while they study, with the aim to retain them as teachers. Students will also benefit from an APTT’s extensive wellbeing wrap-around support program to support them in their studies and employment placements.

APTT’s wrap-around supports will build student resilience and preparedness to teach, with intensive professional learning in key areas including advanced classroom management, literacy support, AI, learner diversity, and Indigenous culture.

Offering the latest in research-informed pedagogy, participants will gain theoretical understanding and deep knowledge of how students learn through real-world practical experiences teaching in high demand discipline areas including mathematics, English, history and geography.
