The Industrial Technology Microcredentials – Rural, Regional and Remote (RRR) Delivery Hub program offers the unique opportunity for NSW teachers in a regional corridor stretching from Glen Innes to Canberra to develop their skills and specialist knowledge in emerging design and technology practice, without leaving their community.

How do microcredentials work?

Workshop microcredentials:

Theoretical components are taught fully online outside of teaching hours, requiring approximately 4 contact hours per week over 14 weeks (e.g. live tutorials). Practical workshop intensives are held in the NSW School holidays (24-36 hours over 4-6 days). Time should also be allowed for self-directed online study and project development.

TAS Pedagogy Microcredentials:

Taught fully online with a mandatory 10-day school placement.

Course fees

The standard course fee per microcredential is $2200.

The RRR Delivery Hubs are proudly funded by the NSW Government to support rural upskilling. Hub students enjoy the following benefits:

  • Discounted course fee of $850 per microcredential
  • Travel stipend to attend the practical workshop week
  • Subsidised workshop materials.

Community of support

Country University Centres (CUC) in Goulburn, Mudgee, Narrabri and Cowra have partnered with ACU to provide students with access to computers, a quiet place to study, videoconferencing and printing facilities, learning support and practical assistance navigating university systems.

Digital certification

Following the successful completion of each microcredential, you will receive a digitally coded certification badge that can be shared on your professional profiles, including LinkedIn. This badge is proof of your award and can be used to gain credit in relevant courses when pursuing further study.

Pathways to further study

Up to 30 credit points from the Industrial Technology Microcredentials can be applied to the Graduate Diploma in Design and Technologies Education at ACU.

National Course Coordinator and Discipline Lead Design Innovation and Technologies,
National School of Arts and Humanities

Belinda vonMengersen is the National Course Coordinator and Discipline Lead Design Innovation and Technologies for the National School of Arts and Humanities. A specialist in traditional, current and emerging textile technologies, her primary research focusses on the study and practice of contemporary textiles and the intersection between new technology and traditional textile materials and techniques. Her secondary area of research practice is in creativity and reflective writing as a tool for conceptual thinking in studio practice. She has authored chapters in three volumes of Springer’s Contemporary Issues in Technology series, regularly reviews articles for the International Journal of Technology and Design Education and presents frequently at International Design and Technologies conferences.
