Dr Benjamen Gussen

Dr Benjamen Gussen is a Lecturer in Law at the Thomas More Law School at the Australian Catholic University (ACU). Before joining ACU, he taught at Swinburne University of Technology, the University of Southern Queensland, the Auckland University of Technology, and the University of Auckland, delivering courses across criminal law, evidence, constitutional law, administrative law, statutory interpretation, jurisprudence, and legal practice and professional conduct.

Dr Gussen holds an LLB (Hons) and a PhD in Law from the University of Auckland. His research focuses on the application of the principle of subsidiarity in public law, with particular interest in First Nations governance. He has published in Australian and international law journals and contributes to scholarly discussions on constitutional issues.

Committed to student learning and research, Dr Gussen has supervised PhD students in constitutionalism and law-and-technology. He strives to foster an engaging and supportive learning environment, incorporating discussion-based methods and real-world legal challenges into his teaching.
