Recognising excellence at ACU

The 2024 Vice-Chancellor's Staff Excellence Awards were held at the North Sydney campus this week, celebrating the outstanding work of staff across the university.

From cutting-edge stroke research to an innovative industry PhD program, community engagement excellence and teacher education hubs, staff were recognised across seven categories.

The annual awards publicly acknowledge excellence in performance that directly supports the mission of ACU and its 10-year strategic plan, Vision 2033.

Top honours went to Professor Tim McKenry, who received the 2024 Vice-Chancellor's Medal for Excellence in recognition of his exemplary work as Chair of ACU's Academic Board.

Now in his second term, Professor McKenry has led ACU's TEQSA renewal of registration and driven improvements in teaching, research and service across the university.

He was recognised for his empathetic leadership, collaborative problem-solving and his commitment to the sustained success and growth of ACU.

Professor McKenry said he was honoured to be recognised.

"I am grateful to ACU for the many opportunities to make a difference across the university," Professor McKenry said.

"The work I've been doing as Chair of the Academic Board isn't just about compliance, policy and procedure - it's about how our students encounter us and how our staff engage.

"The most rewarding thing is connecting it all to our bigger vision, which is to enable flourishing lives."
