ACU proud to support education events

Australian Catholic University (ACU) is proud to sponsor events designed to bring education experts together to boost collaboration and improve teacher practice and student outcomes across the country.

As a national university and leader in the provision of initial teacher education, ACU has a long and proud history of supporting events that have a positive impact on both future and existing educators working in all sectors.

And as a Catholic university, this of course includes important faith-based events.

Accordingly, ACU is honoured to co-sponsor the upcoming Australian Catholic Education Conference (ACEC), which will bring 1500 delegates together for professional learning experiences, workshops and networking opportunities guided by the theme, 'hope, anchored in faith'.

The ACEC, hosted by the National Catholic Education Commission and the Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns, will be held in Cairns next year from August 20-22.

ACU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Zlatko Skrbis said the conference aligned with the university's values of truth, excellence, and service.

"We are proud of our record as the nation's largest provider of teachers across the country. And we are equally as proud of the high-quality learning resources and programs we offer to upskill the current teacher workforce," Professor Skrbis said.

"Sponsoring events such as next year's Australian Catholic Education Conference demonstrates our commitment to Catholic school educators and students, as well as the lifelong pursuit of knowledge and serving the common good."

ACU Executive Dean of Education and Arts Professor Mary Ryan said the ACEC sponsorship followed ACU's official support of events including the Brisbane Catholic Education's annual Excellence Awards, the Queensland Spirit of Catholic Education Awards, and the upcoming Catholic Schools New South Wales (CSNSW) Spirit on Country Conference and CSNSW Curriculum Reform Conference.

"At ACU, we are proud to put our support behind events that allow for professional growth and the sharing of practice, knowledge and experiences, while shining a light on the wonderful work of educators across the country," Professor Ryan said.

"We routinely work closely with schools, early childhood centres, dioceses, governments, and industry partners across the nation to celebrate and advance evidence-based education practices in all sectors."
