ShareA warm welcome to Dr Vicky Saunders, joining us as Senior Research Fellow in the ACT. Vicky is committed to conducting research that addresses social justice issues impacting children and families, driven by the belief that every child deserves the best start in life.
Dr Vicky Saunders was one of the first team members of the Institute of Child Protection Studies (ICPS) when it was formed in 2005. She has built a diverse portfolio of research and has returned to ICPS with a broad range of experience in research with children and young people, early childhood, children of prisoners, social work with families, and working with diverse groups about sensitive issues.
Her current project with us involves an evaluation of the Domestic and Family Violence Pilot for Community Services Directorate in the ACT. This project will implement a co-designed practice model to strengthen intake for the Safe &Together practice in the ACT. The project is a collaboration with Child and Youth and Families staff, and involves consultations with stakeholders, and a review of the current policy and practice environment. It offers Vicky an opportunity to inform policies and practices, engage with communities and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to support families in achieving better life outcomes.
Vicky enjoys collaborating with passionate researchers to foster an interdisciplinary research environment. She is also committed to conducting research that centres on uncovering and challenging systemic inequities that hinder access to essential resources and opportunities, and on crafting evidence-based solutions that can transform lives.
Vicky is thrilled to be back at ICPS where she has the opportunity to contribute to research that not only advances academic knowledge but also addresses real-world challenges and allows children and families to build resilience and thrive.
