Overview

The international development studies minor sequence focuses on contemporary understandings of the causes and consequences of poverty, conflict, refugees and migration, and develops work-ready skills in project management, research and policy development. You’ll be prepared for a career, either domestically or abroad, in a diverse range of government and non-government organisations tasked with supporting the alleviation of poverty in the developing world.

Completion requirements

A student must complete 40 cp of the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

a. at least 10 cp from 100-level units (Part A)

b. at least 20 cp from 200- and/or 300-level units (Part B)

Complete at least 10 credit points from the following:

  • DVST100Introduction to International Development Studies10 CP
  • DVST101Humanitarian Work and Aid10 CP

Minimum 10cp and maximum 20cp at 100-level 

Complete at least 20 credit points from the following:

  • DVST200Refugees and Forced Migration10 CP
  • DVST204Project Management for Development10 CP
  • GEOG219Geography Research and Project Management10 CP
  • DVST205Peace and Conflict10 CP
  • POLS213Security, Terrorism and Human Rights10 CP

No more than 30cp at 200- and/or 300- level.
