Admission requirements

Applicants must comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy that includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement.

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Arts (Western Civilisation)/Bachelor of Laws an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent:

Entry into this course is based on a combination of a written submission (personal statement essay), an interview and academic performance.

Applicants are assessed on a combination of:

  • written submission of a personal statement,
  • ATAR-Selection Rank including adjustment factors, International Baccalaureate (IB), or equivalent, and
  • interview.

Completion requirements

To qualify for the double degree, a student must complete 400cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

a.  160 cp selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (Western Civilisation), consisting of:

  1. 130 cp from Western Civilisation Specified Units (Part A);
  2. 10 cp from Community Engagement Unit (Part B);
  3. 20 cp from Western Civilisation Elective Units (Part C);

      

b.  240 cp selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Laws, consisting of:

  1. 180 cp from Law Specified Units (Part D);
  2. 50 cp from Law Elective Units (Part E);
  3. 10 cp Pro Bono/Community Legal Engagement Unit (Part F)


Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.
