Admission requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:

Definition
A Major is 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level, at least 40 cp at 200-level and at least 20 cp from 300-level.
A Minor is 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level and at least 20 cp at 200/300-level.
Completion requirements
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 160 cp from:
- 2 Majors from Drama, English, Media (Melbourne only); Music and/or Visual Arts (Part A) or
- 1 Major and 2 Minors from Communication, Creative Writing, Drama, English, Graphic Design (Melbourne only), Media (Melbourne only); Music and/or Visual Arts (Part B and Part C);
- 20 cp from Capstone units (Part D):
- HUMA330 Community Engagement: Placement or HUMA331 Big Ideas: Social Enterprise and Innovation
- HUMA320 Major Creative Project;
- 40 cp from:
- Elective units from the Bachelor of Arts schedule of unit offerings (Part E); OR
- 20 cp from Arts Scholars Program (Part G) units and 20 cp from Elective units (Part E)
- 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units (Part F);
Exit points
Students who have met the requirements of the Diploma in Liberal Arts can exit with this award.
Progression requirements
Unless otherwise specified, students must complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level) in that sequence. Any additional prerequisites for individual units are shown in brackets after the unit in the Schedule of Unit Offerings.
Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.

Students selected for the Scholars Program will take HUMA251 and HUMA328 as two electives in the degree.
- Restriction requirement for HUMA332. A quota applies to this unit. An application process applies for special projects on offer and academic merit will be considered. The student must have a GPA of at least 5.5 and be undertaking a major taught by the National School of Arts (not including Education Studies, Mathematics and Technology). Permission from the National Head of School is required prior to enrolling in this unit.
