EFTSL value of units : All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

Admission requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy that includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement.

International applicants need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:

Recommended studies: Visual Arts for study in Visual Arts.

Prerequisite: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English

Completion requirements

To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings consisting of:

  1. 120 cp of Visual Arts Specialisation consisting of:
  2. 40 cp from 2D Studies (Part A);
  3. 30 cp from 3D/4D Object Design (Part B);
  4. 20 cp from ARTS332 and ARTS340 (Part C);
  5. 30 cp from Art and Design History and Theory (which must include one of the following program core units, ARTS331 Contemporary Art in a Globalised World or ARTS338 International  Study Tour: Venice Biennale) (Part D);
  6. 40 cp from Graphic Design minor (Part E);
  7. 40 cp of Arts minor chosen from minors available in the Bachelor of Arts OR 40 cp of Arts electives from BA offerings (Part F);
  8. 20 cp  from Specified Units (Part G);
  9. 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units (Part H).

Exit points

A student who has successfully completed the requirements for the Diploma in Visual Arts and Design may exit from the course with that qualification.

Progression requirements

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.
