Admission requirements

International students must meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:

Completion requirements
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 110 cp from Youth Work specified units (Part A);
- 40 cp from Sociology specified units (Part B);
- 10 cp from 200- or 300-level Sociology electives (Part C);
- 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units (Part D);
- 20 cp from Practicum Units including YSED202 (community engagement unit) (Part E);
- 40 cp from Electives (Part F);
Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.
Exit points
Students who have successfully completed 40 cp of Youth Work units may exit with the Non-Award Certificate in Youth Work.
Students who meet the requirements for the Diploma in Youth Work may exit with that award.
Progression requirements
Unless otherwise specified, students must complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level) in that sequence. Any additional prerequisites for individual units are shown in brackets after the unit in the Schedule of Unit Offerings.
