THCP612 Spirituality in the Christian Tradition

Teaching organisation

This unit involves 150 hours of focused learning. The total includes formally structured learning activities such as lectures, tutorials, online learning, video-conferencing, or supervision. The remaining hours typically involve reading, research, and the preparation of tasks for assessment.

Unit rationale, description and aim

In this unit, students will examine selected works and figures from the Christian spiritual tradition, analysing their theological and mystical perspectives in light of their historical and cultural contexts. Students will bring a critical interpretive lens to mystical theology and experience, and its relation to prayer, and will assess the particular contributions of distinctive spiritualities to the building up of the whole Church.
