Unit rationale, description and aim

This unit explores the partnership between the Catholic school and the parish in terms of religious education within the broader faith community. It evaluates the use of the terms catechesis, religious instruction, religious education and evangelisation in relation to school and parish based religious education. It addresses the relationship between developments in Christian theology, the goals of faith education, and contemporary catechetical theory as it pertains to the religious and sacramental education of children, adolescents and adults in school and parish contexts.
