Unit rationale, description and aim

This is one of two honours thesis units in an embedded undergraduate Honours program. Entry to the Honours program is by invitation based on scholarly achievement. Student undertaking this unit will need to show satisfactory progress in order to progress to EDRS504 Honours Thesis B. The grade for the final report will be applied to both units. This unit emphasises independent scholarship and research. Students will apply their understanding of a range of education research methodologies by designing and implementing a feasible research study on a topic of interest culminating in a research report. This unit provides students with an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in a key learning area such as Science or English, or in an area of interest such as Special Education. Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) will be required to develop a research project focussed on leadership, management and advocacy issues associated with early childhood education.
