Unit rationale, description and aim

This unit will equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to plan and manage a social research project. The unit will introduce students to project management principles and theory. These will be applied to research projects covering such topics as scoping, resourcing and funding of research projects; managing a project team and monitoring and evaluating research projects. Students will be asked to apply what they have learnt to one of four types of research projects (Academic, Corporate, Government, Not for Profit). The emphasis of the unit is upon applied learning and developing the ability to manage a research project from beginning to end utilising a chosen model of project management.
