SWTP321 Field Education in Social Work 2 , SWTP421 Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Social Work Practice in Organisations (Honours)

Teaching organisation

Students will participate in the equivalent of 500 hours of supervised field education experience including 14 hours of participation in class seminars.

Unit rationale, description and aim

This final field practicum will be undertaken by students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work Honours degree. It will extend student learning as beginning social work practitioners as articulated in the AASW (Australian Association of Social Workers) Practice Standards. This supervised field practicum of 360 hours will provide honours students in demonstrate their ability to practice with courage, compassion, creativity and integrity, and develop a strong sense of professional identity as beginning social workers. Students will the opportunity to apply their advanced research skills in order to explore the nature of social work practice within a range of organizational settings and contexts including working collaboratively with other disciplines and a range of client groups and communities.
