This unit introduces students to the Christian ethical tradition. It explores the way this ethical tradition acts as a guide and offers a critique, particularly in questions of contemporary social justice. Students will be introduced to the foundational biblical texts relating to justice, as well as relevant papal encyclicals and other writings of the Catholic tradition of the modern era. The principles that underpin this tradition will then be applied to a number of important social issues facing people in the rapidly changing context of the contemporary world.
