The Mathematics sequence is designed to provide a broad introduction to the study of traditional and contemporary Mathematics. Highlights include introductions to cryptography, project management, networks, mathematical modelling, and finance. The major also covers the traditional areas required by those intending to become primary or secondary teachers, as the teaching of Mathematics from K-12 is a high demand field and the demand will grow in the future. A major in Mathematics can also lead to interesting careers in areas such as operations research, cryptography, finance and computing.

Completion requirements
For a major a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
a. 20 cp from 100- level Units(Part A);
b. 40 cp from 200-level Units (Part B);
c. 20 cp from 300-level Units (Part C).
*Students in the Bachelor of Education (Secondary), Bachelor of Education (Primary and Secondary) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary and Special Education) must complete 60 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of no more than 2 units at 100-level and at least 2 units at 300-level.
