NilUnit rationale, description and aim
In this unit the students will be introduced to the practice of creating and designing web pages. Students will develop appropriate practical skills through the use of an industry standard multimedia imaging package, and through introduction to related theoretical concepts. This will serve as a foundation for work in many aspects of media production and practice.

On successful completion of this unit, students should be able to:

Content
Topics will include:
- Investigating digital imaging software
- Concepts in digital image creation and manipulation.
- Introduction to design principles and elements and interface design
- Design of appropriate platforms for use of digital imaging
- Researching the role of digital imaging in new media
Learning and teaching strategy and rationale
The learning and teaching strategy and rationale for this unit is to create experiences through the assessment items that enable engagement with the graduate attributes. Classes include lectures and workshops that develop written and or oral analysis, and presentation skills, and allow participation in class critique and discussion that express values, knowledge, skills to think critically and reflectively. The assessments are designed to address the learning outcomes relevant to graphic design in addition to instructional exercises in class to acquire experience with acquiring technical design skills.
Assessment strategy and rationale
In this unit, students will be asked to prepare assessment tasks appropriate to their year level. A range of assessment procedures will be used that combine to meet the learning outcomes and graduate attributes of the unit, consistent with University assessment requirements.
