Unit rationale, description and aim

This is an experiential learning law unit that requires students to undertake pro bono or legal professional experience in the year following the completion of the second full year of their degree totalling at least 80 hours. Pro bono or legal professional experience involves students engaging in practical, law related activity, especially on behalf of those who are marginalised or disadvantaged in our community. This provides students with valuable experience of the practical operation of the law and its ability to respond to social justice issues. It will also assist students to develop the skills needed to work collaboratively, mutual respect and a commitment to justice.
