Diversity is a cornerstone of Australian society with nearly one in four Australians born overseas in over 200 different countries. While such diversity can promote a range of positive outcomes such as empathy, tolerance, and respect for cultural values, it can also lead to unfair treatment of others through prejudicial behaviours. This project builds an evidence base to understand how children’s critical thinking influences their reasoning about inclusion and exclusion in authentic playground and classroom experiences as they progress through primary school education.
