Staff profile

Dr Matt Sexton

Lecturer and Director of the Mathematics Teaching and Learning Centre (MTLC)

Dr Matt Sexton (PhD, MEd, BTeach, BArts) is the Director of the Mathematics Teaching and Learning Centre (MTLC), a Mathematics Education Lecturer and also the Faculty of Education and Arts (FEA) Enterprise Manager at ACU. Matt's PhD focused on the work of mathematics leaders in primary schools, one of the first on this topic in Australasia. His study examined how School Mathematics Leaders contributed to the sustainability of project-initiated mathematics teaching reforms through their school-based professional learning leadership. Matt’s research interests include mathematics leadership and teacher professional development, including ways that enhance teacher capacity to engage in pedagogical reasoning about teaching that impacts on students’ mathematics learning.
