A message from Dr Nicola Brown, Australian Catholic University National Postgraduate Programs Coordinator:
As I write, we are now in Week 9 of Semester 1, and understand that our students are feeling the pressure of study and assessments. I appreciate all that our industry partners do to support students undertaking postgraduate studies during semester and recognise that this becomes more challenging as the winter illness season impacts on health services delivery. Graduation ceremonies for 2022 graduands are in progress, and we look forward to celebrating our students' success with them.
A major course change has been submitted for the Master of Clinical Nursing. It covers a change to specialties in the Graduate Certificate of Clinical Nursing, including intensive care, cardiac, perioperative, neuroscience and generic clinical nursing specialty units, in addition to our current specialties in correctional health, gerontological, renal, medical and surgical nursing.
The course review for our postgraduate programs in health leadership and management, and mental health, are finalised and the revised course proposals are making their way through the university governance processes. I am pleased to announce that we will have a revamped and rebadged Master of Leadership and Management in Health Care from 2024, with graduate certificate and graduate diploma exit points and new electives in global health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
Semester 2 promises to be another busy semester for our postgraduate academic team, as we transition all our postgraduate courses to the ACU Online platform and a four-term-per-year model. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or wish to discuss opportunities for further collaboration. We are always keen to hear from you.
Our postgraduate course offerings for Semester 2 are:
We are excited to have Commonwealth supported places (CSPs) for our graduate certificate, graduate diploma and master's in mental health and mental health nursing for commencing students. This is a significant saving of up to $15,000 for students and our course is one of only a few that are fully accredited by the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN). If you're looking to upskill, become credentialled as a mental health nurse, advance to a leadership position or simply want to be a more patient-focused mental health nurse, read about our Master of Mental Health Nursing or contact Sophie Schapiro at MH_pg@acu.edu.au or sophie.schapiro@acu.edu.au for more information.
