Definition
A Major consists of 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level, at least 40 cp at 200-level and at least 20 cp from 300-level
A Minor consists of 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level and at least 20 cp at 200/300-level.
Completion requirements
To qualify for the degrees, a student must complete 320 cp consisting of:
- 20 cp from Specified units (Part A);
- 80 cp from Major in either Biblical Studies or Christian Thought (Part B);
- 40 cp from Minor in either Biblical Studies or Christian Thought (in alternative discipline to b.) (Part C);
- 80 cp from Major in Philosophy with a minimum 20 credit points at 300 level (Part D);
- 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units (Part E);
- 10 cp from Community Engagement Unit (Part F);
- 70 cp from Electives (Part G):
- 40 cp from Minor and 30 cp from Electives
In the total of 320 cp, no more than 100 cp may be selected from 100-level units.
Students will be advised by the Course Coordinator in all aspects of progress through the course.
Exit points
A student who has completed 40 cp in Philosophy units may exit with the Non-Award Certificate in Philosophy.
A student who has completed 40 cp in Theology units, including THBS100 Introduction to the Bible and THCT100 What Christians Believe, may exit with the Non-Award Certificate in Theology.
A student who has completed 80 cp in Philosophy units may exit with the Diploma in Philosophy.
A student who has completed 80 cp in Theology units, including THBS100 Introduction to the Bible and THCT100 What Christians Believe, may exit with the Diploma in Theology.
A student who has completed 160 cp in Philosophy units may exit with the Associate Degree in Philosophy.
A student who has completed 160 cp in Theology units, including THBS100 Introduction to the Bible and THCT100 What Christians Believe, may exit with the Associate Degree in Theology
Progression requirements
Unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator, a student must have completed at least 40 cp in 100-level units before undertaking 200-level or 300-level units.
