Do you offer HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP?

Australian citizens or permanent residents (humanitarian visa) are eligible for HECS-HELP (undergraduate study) or FEE-HELP (postgraduate study) providing you have not exceeded your associated limit. New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents will need to pay fees up front but are eligible for our domestic student fee. International students are not eligible for any Australian government fee assistance.

When will I receive my offer letter?

As soon as your application has been assessed, and we confirm you’ve met the course requirements, you will receive your offer letter confirming that you have received a place in your ACU Online course. The offer letter will include the recommended units that you will automatically be enrolled into once you accept your offer of enrolment.

If your application is successful, you will receive an email from us confirming your offer.

As well as your offer to study with us, this email will contain a username and temporary password to log in to Student Connect, our online application and enrolment system.

You will need to log in to Student Connect to view, accept, defer or decline your offer.

I have previously studied. Will any of my previous study count towards my ACU Online course?

We can potentially offer exemptions for our undergraduate courses based on qualifications undertaken in the last 10 years. We can also award exemptions towards our postgraduate courses where any previously completed studies are assessed to be academically equivalent and have been completed in the last 10 years. Alternatively, if you have work experience related to your studies then you can apply to have this recognised through recognition of prior learning.

How do I enrol in my units?

  1. Check your Course Enrolment Guide to check what units you need to enrol into.
  2. Login to Student Connect.
  3. Select ‘My Enrolment’ from the main menu
  4. Select ‘Enrol or Withdraw’
  5. Select the relevant study period and 'Continue to select units'
  6. Navigate to the relevant unit and select ‘Action’
  7. From the drop down box select ‘Withdraw’
  8. Click ‘Submit’

What is a term?

Online four-term (4T)

A term is a 10-week study block made up of four teaching weeks, a one-week break, another four teaching weeks and then a final assessment week. Each of your units will be run during one of the four terms throughout the year, with a two week break between terms.

Please check the Syllabus page in each unit for any additional requirements such as attendance of on campus intensives or professional experience.

Online multi-term (MT)

Online Multi-Term (MT) refers to any term be it a semester or another term depending on the course and its units.

What is census date?

Census date is the last day you can withdraw from a unit without incurring a financial or academic penalty.

Do I have a timetable?

There’s no weekly timetable when you study with ACU Online 4T. Your learning material is available to you from the beginning of each term, and you will participate in learning activities online. You will be able to conduct these activities at times that work best for you. Please check the Syllabus page in each unit for any additional requirements such as attendance of on campus intensives. However, there may be timetabled units within an ACU Online MT course.

When do classes start?

ACU Online doesn’t run traditional classes. The learning material for each unit will be available to you at the beginning of the term for you to work through. There are four terms each year. Depending on your course, and study load, you could have units scheduled in each term.

Can I withdraw from any units once the teaching period begins?

Yes, you can, but depending on when you withdraw from your unit(s), there may be financial and/or academic penalties. Before making any decision to withdraw from a unit you should familiarise yourself with the census dates for your term so you’re aware of how withdrawing from a unit will impact your fees and academic record.

Do I need to attend a lecture at a specific time every week?

You won’t have to be online for lectures at any specific times but please look out for announcements from your Online Facilitator if they choose to run optional weekly drop-in sessions. Your learning material is available to you from the beginning of each term, and you can work through it at times that suit you best.

How will I be supported through my online studies?

AskACU are there to support you throughout your course. They’ll be your first point of contact and provide helpful course advice and can refer you to more specialised support teams as you need. In each of your units you will have access to a subject matter expert called an Online Facilitator who will provide academic and assessment support.

How do I submit assessments?

All of your assessment tasks are submitted via a link in Canvas, ACU’s Learning Management System.

Where can I get assessment support?

There are a few channels to help you get the support you need to complete your assessments. In each unit there are subject matter experts called Online Facilitators who can answer questions related to the learning content and the requirements for your assessments. Additional support is available through our Academic Skills Unit who provide a range of resources and services to support you to build your skills so you can reach your academic potential. Independent academic support via Studiosity is also available to you within your units. Studiosity offers feedback on your assessment drafts, covering academic writing, structure, tone and use of research. They will respond to your draft submissions within 24 hours.
