The Law degree structure and Law unit offerings have been approved by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board and the Legal Profession Admission Board (NSW). Students in Sydney undertake their Theology units at the Strathfield campus and their Law units at the North Sydney campus.

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible to apply for admission to the Bachelor (Honours) degree, a student must have completed at least 120 cp of LAWS units from the Bachelor of Laws degree, with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 5.75.

Definition

A Major consists of 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level, at least 40 cp at 200-level and at least 20 cp at 300-level.

A Minor consists of 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level and at least 20 cp at 200/300-level.

Completion requirements

To qualify for the double degrees, a student must complete 400 cp that meet all of the following requirements:

For the Theology component:

160 cp from Bachelor of Theology units, comprising:

  1. 80 cp from Major in either Biblical Studies or Christian Thought (Part A);
  2. 40 cp from Minor in either Biblical Studies or Christian Thought in the alternative discipline to (i) above (Part B);
  3. 20 cp Core Curriculum Units (Part C)
  4. 10 cp Theology Elective Units* (Part D)
  5. 10 cp from Integrated Study Unit (Part E)

For the Law component:

240 cp selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Laws, consisting of:

  1. 180 cp from Law Specified Units (Part F)
  2. 10 cp from Law Elective Units (Part G)
  3. 10 cp Legal Research and Methodology
  4. 10 cp from Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono Unit (Part H)
  5. 30 cp Honours Thesis


To qualify for the Honours degree, at least four of the units taken from the Law Specified Units and/or Law Elective Units must be at level 4.

To qualify for the degree, a student must also complete at least 80 hours of 0cp pro bono placement after completion of LAWS213 Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.
